Have the children draw facial features onto a paper plate to make a male face. Supply the children with yarn or Easter grass for hair.

Paper Plate Uncles 2

Paper Plate Uncles 3
Supply the children with different multicultural colors of paper. Have them tear the paper and glue them onto a paper plate to cover the paper plate. After the glue dries have the children draw on facial features with a marker or crayon, or they hay glue on facial features from a magazine.

Uncle Bowling
Obtain 10 half gallon milk cartons, or 2 liter bottles. Fill the bottles about 1/8 full with water and seal the lid. Then, decorate the bottles like men, adding yarn for hair, and use permanent markers for the eyes nose and mouth. Set the bottles up like they were bowling pins and have the children roll a ball to try to knock them over. If they don't knock over easily, remove some of the water.

Uncle day:
Have a Uncle day party, or invite a different Uncle each day to read a special story. Be sure that stories are well rehearsed, and interesting to the children. Talk about members in a family, father, mother, sister, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and more.

Uncle May I?
The old game, mother may I take three little steps forward? Replace mother with other family members.

You will need an image of the letter U. Place the image on the table and place a piece of contact paper, sticky side up over the image. Supply the children with scraps of construction paper to tissue paper. Children use the scraps to create the image on the contact paper.

Place masking tape on a piece of finger painting paper to create the letter U. Allow the child to paint the picture. After the paint had dried remove the tape.

Cotton Letters
Place glue on a piece of paper in shape of a U. Have the children place cotton balls on the paper.

Letter Rubbings

Paper Plate Umbrellas
Have the children decorate large paper plates with paint, crayons, markers or whatever they would like. When finished and dry, poke a hole in the middle large enough for the child to stick their finger through. Use the umbrellas at circle time, have the children sings a song about the rain while holding the umbrellas over their head.

Umbrella Art
Cut out an umbrella shape and have your child decorate it with paint, glitter, fabric, crayons, or whatever you can come up with.

Rain Spattered Umbrellas
You will need: watered down non-toxic blue paint, paper, pipettes and straws. Supply each child with a straw and a piece of paper. Allow the children to use the pipette (or medicine dropper NOT GLASS) to place a small amount of paint onto a piece of paper. Then, have them use the straw to blow the paint around their picture.

USA Flag Art I:
Obtain a large piece of white butcher paper. You will also need blue paper, red and white paint and star shaped sponges. Have the children glue on the blue square to the upper left hand side of the paper. You will then have them use the star shaped sponges in the white paint to make the stars. Then, use the red paint to paint each child's hands and then make the red stripes of the flag with their hand prints.
Variation I: Use silver star stickers instead of sponge painting.
Variation II: Use smaller pieces of paper and have each child do their own using their fingerprints to make the red stripes.
Variation III: Paint the lines red instead of using hand prints.

Marble Painting Unicorn

First you need a large plastic container with a lid. (I used a shallow peanut butter container.) Next cut out paper in the shape of a unicorn that will fit in the lid of the container. Place a few drops of paint into the container with a few marbles (be sure to observe carefully as marbles are a choking hazard) then place a very small amount of black paint on the lid and pre-cut paper on the paint. (I use the paint to make the paper stick to the lid.) Place the lid on the container, flip and have the children shake. When finished, remove paper and allow to dry, and place a clean piece of paper in the lid for the next child.

Utensils Sort
Have the children sort plastic utensils.

Add plastic utensils to the dramatic play area or the sand and water table.

Add different Uniforms to your dramatic play area.
